Halfway Hall Business Plan

Business SupportCase StudiesStrategy & Development

This business plan assessed the viability of the Halfway Hall Management Committee taking over the Hall’s lease from South Lanarkshire Council and the Hall’s long-term sustainability.   This piece of work investigated the possible takeover of the leasing contract of the Hall through South Lanarkshire Council’s ‘Community Asset Transfer “Light”’ process (CATL), potential future renovation, maintenance and running of the Hall by HHMC, to operate as a multi-use community owned venue.

“It’s a lifeline to not only the local community but wider than that. There are very few venues like this left and it’s used by those from 6 months to 86 years. Don’t underestimate the impact having the hall has on people’s wellbeing and their mental health.”

Local resident | Community Survey

SKS assessed the viability of the Committee taking on the lease and the Hall’s long-term sustainability, examining community need, previous community consultations, outcomes and benefits, strategic fit and project delivery.
