SKS carried out the research and business planning for a potential community asset transfer at Roome Bay. This project aims to create visitor facilities on the site of a derelict Council owned building.

Initially we met with the client on site to discuss the group’s aspirations for the building, working with JGA Architects on redevelopment design options. We identified potential challenges and opportunities of the site and then developed a comprehensive survey to test community support and markets for the proposed takeaway and toilet facility.

We collated and analysed all survey results, using these together with feedback from relevant stakeholders, to produce a clear options appraisal. This provided CCP with the detail required to make informed decision about the route forward.

We then worked with the architect to scope and hone designs for the facility, to include low running costs, solar panels and good disabled access. We then developed a business plan for the facility to be managed by CCP, including estimated capital costs, income and expenditure projections, operational plan, risk mitigation and funding strategy. This document is now being used by CCP to negotiate the transfer of the asset from the Council and to develop funding applications for the capital costs required to bring the project to fruition.
