Fountain Road Hall, Scottish Land Fund Business Plan

Case StudiesCommunity (& Stakeholder) EngagementFundingStrategy & Development

SKS developed a 5 year Business Plan for Fountain Road Hall as a Community Hub.

Work undertaken

We worked closely with Go Golspie to gather support for the project and identify clear markets and uses for the building.

Our architectural partners JGA, carried out a condition survey on the building, identified any issues to be considered and scoped the options for development.

This information fed into an Options Appraisal, which considered all proposed options against agreed criteria, helping Go Golspie make an informed decision about the way forward. For example, it was important that Go Golspie could be confident that the income they could generate would cover the running costs.

After this detailed work SKS developed a 5 year Business Plan, based upon the decisions made by Go Golspie and incorporating desk research and stakeholder and community engagement. It also included financial projections, outlines of income & expenditure and potential funding opportunities.

Output

The Business Plan clearly articulated Go Golspie’s vision for Fountain Road Hall and how it would be carried out. It was successfully used to apply for a Stage 2 Scottish Land Fund grant and the building is now owned by the community and open as a Community Hub.

Thank you for being so easy to work with. I’ve been impressed with your grasp of the brief from the start. You’ve kept us up to date with the plan as you’ve gone along and met all the target dates.

Chair, Go Golspie
