SKS prepared the business plan for Bannockburn House Trust’s successful Stage 2 Scottish Land Fund / Big Lottery application. The community purchase, operation and management of this historic 17th-century mansion where Bonnie Prince Charlie famously resided for part of the Jacobite rebellion is now one step closer.
The key role for the SKS team was to plan and deliver the “critical path” activities that had to be carried out in a relatively short timescale. These included:
- Likely availability of capital funds for new build / renovation.
- Evidence of groups of people / organisations that will pay money to Bannockburn House Trust to access facilities, services, events etc.
- Ability of the Bannockburn House Trust to quickly design and deliver heritage activities that will build experience essential to securing Heritage Lottery Funds.
- Producing a well worked up, credible and resourced action plan to implement, assuming success at Scottish Land Fund Stage 2.
SKS worked closely with heritage consultants Ergadia Ltd on this complex project. The award of £648,300 to Bannockburn House Trust, will help the local community to purchase Bannockburn House and its 25 acres of surrounding land for community use.
