Shona founded SKS Scotland and has a breadth of experience gained from 25 years of successfully working within the commercial business sector, integrated with the cultural ethos of the public and third sector. She has been delivering projects for clients for over 15 years and understands the fundamental issues arising from the juxtaposition of the social and commercial issues. She also has gained additional knowledge from being a trustee.

These skills have primarily been developed in the social enterprise sector.

    Claire Whyte - Marketing

Claire has had a varied career across all marketing sectors, having worked for industrial companies, service industries and third sector on both the client and agency side. Her broad knowledge of all marketing disciplines arises from many years experience in brand and marketing management, and allows her to develop practical marketing strategies and plans which result in achieving the client's objectives.

 Claire has experience of: 

·         using marketing techniques effectively to establish business strategies.

·         product positioning and market analysis.

·         creating workable marketing plans and using the most appropriate marketing tools.

·         developing the best possible marketing mix for the product/service and company. 

Claire specialises in:

·         Working with the client to develop appropriate marketing structures and plans and establishing practical tools, budgets and timescales for their on-going implementation.

    Marcus Thompson - Marketing Research

Marcus is a part-time and visiting academic at 3 Scottish Universities where he specialises in teaching Marketing for growing businesses.

He works with social and voluntary enterprises to introduce them to new markets or reposition them within their existing markets. He is interested in the way that charities can create social enterprises with independent income combined with the challenge of delivering services to vulnerable users within the community.

Being a market researcher for fast growth organisations, especially within the social economy, he borrows on "entrepreneurial" marketing principles to deliver commercial, innovative and practice based research for ambitious organisations.

Susan is a highly motivated, versatile and committed individual. She enjoys using her skills and knowledge to solve complex business issues, optimising the work environment relating to people, processes and systems. She is a specialist in strategic business planning, budgeting, and comprehensive financial projections, gained from 15 years experience as a strategic business manager and qualified accountant in financial services organisations. More recently she has expertise in supporting third sector organisations including delivery of successful funding applications. She also is experienced in proving the feasibility and sustainability of businesses including charities and individual projects.

Barbara has been actively involved in business development for both the public and private sectors for many years, gaining significant experience in the process. Specifically, she has been involved in a wide range of initiatives aimed at encouraging more entrepreneurship in Scotland. This has been achieved through extensive experience in strategy development, through to raising finance for growing companies including a strong track record in securing grant support, based on realistic business plans.  

Barbara has experience of:

assistance in business planning providing an action plan to deliver results
